Tagging Solar Cleaning Plan Customers: Twice a Year, Commercial and Beyond

Once you have a few hundred clients, finding the right ones gets harder. Who is on twice a year? Which accounts are commercial? Which customers got bird proofing last spring? Tags answer those questions in a click. They are one of the simplest tools in SolarCleaningBossPro and one of the most useful for running recurring work.

What Tags Are For

Reports on Recurring Solar Cleaning Customers: What to Check Each Month started with counting customers on each plan. Tags are what make that count easy.

A tag is a short label on a client. You can filter the client list by it, use it in reports and pull a list of everyone who has it. Plans themselves are set by the minimum days between visits on the job; tags are how you sort and find people.

The Core Tags

Most solar cleaning companies start with a few:

Add tags that match your other plans too, such as one for yearly customers and one for quarterly commercial sites. Keep the names short and obvious.

Useful Extra Tags

Beyond plans, a few other tags tend to pay off. Clients can carry custom fields too, but tags are the quickest way to filter:

Do not go overboard. A tag nobody uses is clutter. If you cannot name the list you would pull with a tag, you probably do not need it.

Tags in Daily Work

Tags help in small ways every day:

Tags for Texting Campaigns

Tags turn a vague idea (“we should text our old customers”) into a list. A few examples:

Remember that texts use your monthly allowance (500 / 1,000 / 2,000 segments sent and received on Start / Pro / Crew). Short messages and smaller, well-chosen lists go further. More on win-back timing is in Winning Back Lapsed Solar Cleaning Plan Customers.

Keep Tags Accurate

Tags are only useful if they are right. A customer who moved from twice a year to yearly but still has the Twice a Year tag throws off every count and list. Make updating tags part of every plan change, cancellation and win-back. A quick review during the monthly plan check catches anything that slipped.

When you import customers by CSV, tag them as part of the cleanup so your plan counts start out right. Imported addresses are placed on the map automatically.

Agree on tag names as a team before you start. If one person tags a customer “Twice a Year” and another uses “Semi-Annual,” your lists split in two and nobody trusts the counts. Write the list of approved tags somewhere the whole office can see it, and stick to it.

Review the tag list once or twice a year. Remove tags nobody uses, merge ones that mean the same thing, and add new ones only when there is a real list you need to pull. A short, tidy set of tags is far more useful than a long one.

Tags also make training easier. A new office person can learn the business by filtering the client list by each tag and seeing who falls under it: which customers are commercial, which are on twice-a-year plans, and which have bird proofing on the roof.

Small Labels, Big Help

Tags take a second to add and save hours of scrolling. For how tags fit with plans, reports and the Waiting List, see the recurring solar cleaning software page.
