Solar Panel Cleaning Software for Companies Running Two or More Trucks
The jump from one truck to two is the hardest step in a solar cleaning company. With one truck, everything the business knows is in the owner's head. With two, half the work happens somewhere the owner is not standing. Software stops being a nice-to-have at that point and becomes the way information gets from the office to the roof.
What Changes After the First Truck
Solar Panel Cleaning Software for the Owner-Operator Running One Truck covered a company where one person does it all. Add a second truck and three new problems show up:
- Two people need two different lists, in two different orders, every day.
- The tech on the roof did not quote the job and has never seen the house.
- The office, or the owner, needs to know what is done and where everyone is without calling.
Every multi-truck feature in the software is aimed at one of those three.
The Dispatch Board
The Scheduled List, or dispatch board, shows jobs by day. Filter by truck and you see just that truck's route. Auto-route sorts the stops Closest First or Furthest First from the shop, and you can set the order by hand when a customer needs a morning slot or two stops on the same street should run back to back.
Jobs come onto the board from the Waiting List, the live map of every cleaning that came due. The dispatcher looks at the map, sees which pins are clustered together, and assigns them to the truck working that side of town.
Splitting the Work by Truck
Many solar cleaning companies split trucks by type of work. A common setup is one truck on homes and one on commercial arrays. Home jobs are many short stops on rooftops; commercial jobs are fewer, longer stops on large roofs, carports and ground mounts. Keeping them on separate trucks keeps each route predictable.
Tags like Residential and Commercial make that split easy to see on the lists. The difference between the two kinds of work is covered in Residential and Commercial Work in One Solar Panel Cleaning Software.
Each Tech Gets Their Own Login
Employees are set up with a personal PIN and assigned to a truck. Each tech signs into the tech app with the company login plus their own PIN and sees their day in route order. Every job card carries the panel details and access notes, so a tech who has never been to the house knows it is “32 panels · Roof · 2-story · Steep pitch,” that the spigot is behind the AC unit and that the dog is friendly.
Start, Skip and Complete tell the office what is happening. Before and after photos stay with the job. The time clock records hours on the same phone. And when someone leaves the company, turning off their PIN turns off their access.
Knowing Where Everyone Is
Crew GPS shows each tech on the office map. When a customer calls asking “is anyone close?” the office can look instead of calling three phones. As techs tap Complete, the office sees the job done, the photos attached and the invoice created.
Customers see a version of this too. The customer app shows where they are in line on a live map, and automatic texts go out when they are next and when the tech arrives.
Office Users and Roles
With more trucks usually comes an office person. Office user roles let you decide what each person can see and do, so the person scheduling jobs and answering texts does not have to have access to everything the owner does. The detail on that setup is in Office Users, Employees, PINs and Trucks in Solar Panel Cleaning Software.
Two-way texting with customers runs from the office screen, so replies to the automated alerts land with whoever is on the desk instead of on the owner's personal phone.
Plans for Bigger Companies
There are three plans: Start at $59 a month, Pro at $89 and Crew at $199. The monthly text allowance grows with the plan, from 500 to 1,000 to 2,000 segments sent and received, which matters more as more trucks mean more automatic texts. Compare the plans on the pricing page before you pick one. Whatever plan you are on, the office, tech app and customer app are all included, and you can move up as you add trucks.
