The Tech App Side of Solar Panel Cleaning Software

The office can build a perfect schedule, but the work happens on a roof with a brush in one hand. Whatever the tech carries has to be quick to read, easy to tap and hard to get wrong. In most solar cleaning software, that is a phone app. Here is what the tech side of SolarCleaningBossPro does, at a high level.

Where the Route Ends Up

Scheduling and Truck Routes in Solar Panel Cleaning Software: An Overview showed how the office builds each truck's day on the dispatch board. The tech app is where that day lands. The order on the board is the order on the phone, and when the office moves a job, the phone follows.

No App Store, Just a Login and a PIN

The tech app runs in the browser on iPhone and Android, and it can be installed to the home screen so it opens like any other app. There is nothing to download from an app store and no special devices to buy. Techs use the phones they already carry.

Each tech signs in with the company login plus a personal PIN. That ties every job, photo, note and clock-in to the right person. When someone leaves, turning off their PIN turns off their access, and the gate codes on the job cards go with it.

The Day in Route Order

After logging in, the tech sees their own jobs for the day in route order. Each job card shows:

The tech reads the card in the driveway and knows what gear to pull and where to set the ladder before getting out of the truck.

Start, Skip, Complete

Three buttons run the day:

Before and after photos are taken in the app and saved with the job. They are proof of the work and a quick way to show a customer the difference. Bird nests or damage spotted on the roof can be photographed and noted for the office to follow up.

Texts That Go Out on Their Own

As the tech works the route, the customer gets the alerts they chose: a text when they are next and a text when the tech arrives. The tech does not type anything. Customers who open the customer app can watch the crew on a live map and see their place in line. More on that side in The Customer App in Solar Panel Cleaning Software: What Your Customers See.

Getting Paid at Completion

When the tech taps Complete, the invoice is created with the job's line items and sales tax, and the card on file can be charged before the truck leaves the driveway. The tech does not handle cash, write receipts or carry a separate card reader. For property owners on monthly billing, the cleaning goes onto their monthly statement instead.

Time Clock and Crew GPS

Techs clock in and out on the same phone, so hours are recorded as they happen instead of reconstructed at the end of the week. Crew GPS shows each tech on the office map, which lets the office answer “is anyone close?” without calling the crew.

Safety Still Comes First

The app is built to take a few taps per stop, not to be stared at on a roof. Set up fall protection before anything else, never walk on the panels, and follow the panel maker's cleaning guidance. Read the card on the ground, put the phone away on the roof, and tap Complete when you are back down.

The Tech App in the Bigger System

The tech app is one piece of solar panel cleaning software. It works because the office side fed it the route, the panel details and the access notes, and because what the tech does flows straight back into billing and the next recurring cleaning.
